Spiral Plate Heat Exchanger is an assembly of two or more long sheets, usually separated by studs, wrapped to form concentric spiral channels. Turbulent flows occur in the spiral channels at lower Reynolds number due to the studs and centrifugal force and a higher heat transfer coefficient is produced.
Spiral plate heat exchangers are widely used as heaters, coolers, condensers and evaporators in food industry and chemical industry. Fluids range from clean medium to fluids with fibers, pulps, slurries and particles as well as a wide range of viscous fluids. The material of the spiral sheet can be carbon steel, stainless, titanium, hastalloy, etc.
