Herzog HGT915/917膠質測定儀旨在測定航空燃料，發動機汽油及其他揮發性餾分中的蒸發殘留量，儀器符合ASTM D 381, ISO 6246, EN 5，IP 131和GB/T 8019的測試標準。
HGT 915使用壓縮空氣測試樣品，HGT 917即可以用壓縮空氣也可以用水蒸汽測試樣品。兩款型號都可以同時測試3個樣品。測試結果可以指示進氣系統產生沉積物及進氣閥發生粘結的可能。
加熱蒸發浴溫度在空氣模式下出廠設置在大約162oC，在水蒸氣模式下設置232oC。蒸發溫度通過壓力調節控制。當需要時，HGT 917還包括一整套蒸汽發生裝置以及從空氣切換到水蒸汽的裝置。
